Magic carpet boards - Basically, a Longboard with the centre 2½ft missing out of the middle, the ‘Magic Carpet’ is the board of choice for many reasons. It has the same width in the nose, tail and centre point as a traditional Longboard, so it paddles and picks up waves really easily. However, the reduced rail line allows you to turn on a mark and it can be used in a large range of conditions. The new blanks we use for these boards have a greatly reduced rocker, and we have kept the volume right up into the nose of the board so it really draws the speed from the wave. ‘Carpets’ are great for everything from ‘old school style’ stretch nose rides in the pocket, to simply cruising on the mellow days, all the through way to surfing the bigger days with added stability and an easy wave entry. It’s our best seller for a reason! Extra Magic. ‘…The Magic Carpet came about through our relationship with Kevin “Magic Feet” Connelly who’s ridden for us in the past. We were out in the Canaries early in 2000 and Kevin turned up with a board we’d never seen before. It was a basic longboard with a couple of feet taken straight out the middle, so it paddled into a wave like a longboard and was stable like a longboard. When the waves were small it was consistent and caught anything. When the waves were bigger it was reliable and easy to ride. For someone like me who rode a longboard all the time it’s like “that’s the shortboard I want to ride”. You’ve got all that stability and all that ease but with a shorter rail line that made it so much more manoeuvrable. We developed the board over the years into the registered design we have today. We constantly scrutinise the reasons why the board works so well, to keep improving it, but it’s pretty much the same board as we started out with…’ Nineplus clothing - The Nineplus® Essentials range literally reflects our surfboard models, with each board logo recreated in fine embroidery on either heavyweight t-shirts or hoodies – the staple diet of any self-respecting surfer. The main logos are complemented by smaller detailing on either chest prints, or additional embroidery on the hood or neck of the t-shirts. |
